What is the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS)?

The Full form of TFWS is the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, which is an initiative of the AICTE, New Delhi, and is applied to all Indian Government-aided colleges. The student who has an annual family Income of less than 8 lakh rupees can benefit from this scheme. But he/she should have scored the highest marks in their category of Engineering or Pharmacy Entrance Examination. The student who is selected for this scheme will get a full tuition fee waiver, and he/she should only pay the Institute’s examination or other curriculum activities fees. In a Class, there are 3 students who get this scheme benefit. And the cut-off for getting this seat is also very high. For some engineering branch’s it can reach 100 percentile.

Disadvantages of the TFWS Seat

With Benefits, the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme also has some disadvantages written below:

  • Can’t change Branch/College/Division after admission through TFWS quota
  • Don’t get the benefits of other scholarship options
  • Shouldn’t fail in any examination of the Institute

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for a TFWS seat, the student should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant should be a resident of India and be admitted to an Indian Government-Aided College
  • The Annual Family Income should be less than 8 lakh rupees
  • Any Caste Category student can apply for the TFWS Scholarship
  • Students should have scored more marks than others in the entrance examination for any course
  • Selected students shouldn’t change branches or courses
  • He/She should have to get the TFWS Code for their college of admission
  • Applicant can’t take any other scholarship benefits

  • Applicant’s Aadhar Card
  • Annual Family Income Certificate
  • Engineering or Pharmacy Entrance Examination Marksheet

Who Pays TFWS Fees?

The TFWS Fees are paid by the Respective College or Institute only. Because it is a merit-based scholarship and launched by AICTE, New Delhi. In every class of Institute, if there are 60 students then 3 seats are given for TFWS Quota. which means the Institute should have 5% TFWS Seats in total class. The selected students have to pay only other curriculum activities fees only, They get a full tuition fee waiver.

Who is eligible for TFWS?

The students who have scored good marks in any entrance examination of Engineering or pharmacy, and whose Family Income is less than 8 lakh rupees, are required to be admitted through the TFWS Scheme.

How to Apply for the TFWS Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme?

To apply for the TFWS scheme, you must follow below steps:

  • First, check if you have all the requirements for the TFWS scheme like having the highest marks in the Entrance Examination, and the Annual Income should be less than 8 lakh rupees.
  • Then get a choice code for TFWS of the college in which you are going to study.
  • Wait for the cap round process, if started fill in the required details, upload the required documents, and complete the process.
  • Enter the choice code of TFWS Seat and lock your seat.
  • Wait for the seat declaration result, and check your name seat.

TFWS Seats are for the students who have scored the highest marks in the entrance examination, which provides them Tuition Fee Waiver. They have to pay only 10 to 20% amount of institute fee for other activities.
